Awakening the Goddess
For much of human history people worshipped Goddesses. Only in the recent past have male Gods or one male bachelor God been ascendant. In the West and Middle East, the fading of Goddesses coincided with the rise of patriarchal societies and, of late, an artificial separation between humans and Nature, which gave us birth and sustains us. We have lost much since Goddesses roamed our interior landscapes. By returning them to exterior landscapes, these photographs hint at new and better days.
In my series, “The Goddess Awakes” I attempt to redress that imbalance. We imagine a world in which men do not harass, assault, or demean women. A world in which women possess power. Join me as we imagine the goddess reawakening after too long a slumber and returning to the sky world.
