Awakening the Goddess
In my other life, I am a trial lawyer who has represented many women who were sexually harassed. It is time — long past time — to return women to their rightful place as equals and stop the power imbalances that lead to such despicable behavior.
For much of human history people worshipped Goddesses instead of Gods. Only in the recent past have Gods or a God been ascendent. In the West and Middle East, the fading of Goddesses coincided with the rise of patriarchal societies and, of late, an artificial separation between humans and the Nature which gave us birth and sustains us.
In my series, “The Goddess Awakes” I attempt to redress that imbalance. We imagine a world in which men do not harass, assault, or demean women. A world in which women possess power. Join me as we imagine the goddess reawakening after too long a slumber and returning to the sky world.
We have lost much since Goddesses roamed our interior landscapes. By returning them to exterior landscapes, these photographs are a reminder, and possibly, a harbinger of new and better days.
